We don’t know why anyone would want to leave Plano. It is one of the most beautiful cities in North Texas. People come to Plano: they don’t leave it. In fact, since 1990 the population has grown from 129,000 to just short of 300,000 precisely because it is so lovely, and people want to live here.
However, if you are hell-bent on leaving this great city, and you need to sell your home in Plano, you have a bit of a problem at the moment. The housing market has taken a downturn as a result of Covid-19, and selling homes is not easy.
This is partly because so many people have lost their jobs. People who thought they had a steady job for life working for an employer they respected at a job they enjoyed have suddenly found that they are out on the streets without a job. Employers have been laying workers off left, right, and sideways as you know, and what this has meant is that people who had a nice income and nice home have suddenly found themselves unable to pay their mortgage.
Lenders have been helping out by allowing mortgage holidays and so on, but those are going to come to an end sooner rather than later, and when people cannot pay, the lenders will start to foreclose. All this means that there will be more properties on the market.
At the same time, people who were looking to move home have put their plans on hold for much the same reason, so there are fewer buyers in the market.
